history
Cave in Kokkino Horio
The village also has a complex of tunnels that were used by the Nazis as an artillery position during World War II. The area was purchased by a local developer, who later built a large number of houses on the site, destroying the old fire point in the process. In 2006, a memorial to those who died during the Second World War was erected at the entrance to the tunnel.

Culture
It was the location of the 1964 film Zorba the Greek starring Anthony Quinn, Alan Bates, Irene Pappas and many locals. Access is possible, but not illuminated.

description
There are three churches in Kokkino Horio: St. George's, which is located near the entrance to the cave and is used on St. George's Day (April 23); St. Catherine in the village, which is used on November 25. The main church used weekly and at other times during Lent/Easter and Advent/Christmas is St Charalambos and is located in the village square.

There is also a glass-blowing factory with an embryo tavern in the village.

Above Kokkino Horio you can see the strangely shaped hill of Drapanokefala or Kalapodha (so called during the Venetian occupation). The coastline to the north-west of the village is an extremely interesting place to walk through the formations of the soil and caves such as Patsy Cave (or Karavotopos). Another cave called Katalimata located in the center of the village is also a place of interest.
